How to Use This Site

A complete guide to finding jail inmate information using Inmate Search.

Step 1 — Find Your State

From the homepage, locate the state where the person was arrested and click on it. Each state page lists all counties in that state with direct links to their jail inmate search guides.

Step 2 — Select the County

County jails hold people arrested within that county. If you are unsure which county to search, check the city where the arrest occurred — city police departments book arrestees into the county jail for that city. Select the county to open the full guide.

Step 3 — Use the Official Search

Every county page provides a direct link to the official Sheriff website inmate search. Click "Official Inmate Search" to go directly to the government source. These searches are always free.

Tips: Search by last name only first. Try alternate spellings. New bookings take 4–12 hours to appear. If no result, they may have been released or transferred.

Step 4 — Understanding the Results

Inmate search results typically show: full name, booking date, charges, bond amount, housing unit, and sometimes a booking photo. The bond amount shows how much must be paid for release. "No Bond" means a judge has not yet set bail or has denied it.

Step 5 — Set Up Release Alerts

Register for free VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday) alerts at VINELink.com. You will receive automatic notifications when the inmate's status changes — release, transfer, or escape.
